Home Ownership -- The last true Frontier

Check back soon!

We are doing an extensive remodel job on a room and I hope to post a virtual tour of it.

Also, as I blueprint the house I'll post the file here.  Note: you'll need a special plug-in to see it.

Otherwise .... Welcome to my NIGHTMARE. . .Buying a house in the Bay Area for less than $1.00E10 (a little geek humor since I've shown my cards with the note above).
The three most important things in Real Estate:

1) Location

2) Location

3) Location

I'm no expert, but I don't think being 2 blocks from a giant freeway junction and a light rail exit tunnel is quite what they meant . ..

(Way back when, 34th Street used to be Brown Street and this was on Lot K)

Certainly not long on curb appeal (the 2 houses on either side have the same fascade) it does blend in -- not the nicest nor the ugliest house on the street.

Former Owners:

  • Central Land Company (?? to 1902)
  • Frank M. Davis (1902, bought for $1650 -- later put in his wife's name [generally done to ensure she would keep the house if he died -- women had no rights back then] )
  • Martin Ipsen (1905, A Master Mariner)
  • Delia Ipsen (1908)
  • Julia Mitchell (1911, her son Joseph was a teamster)
  • Ellis West (1917, bought for $1200 -- a bad year!)
  • ...
  • Johnny Bunday (1996 - 2000, Jamacian Electrician, bought for $140k)
  • Jen and Josh Barrientos (2000 - ?, [price undisclosed])

Our back yard seems a little small but it is enough for a dog and, to my taste, the less grass the better.
Although it doesn't work the fire place looks nice.

(No, that's the flash, not the sun off my bald spot, Jen.)
